Love takes the stage...

Elise DeVries is not what she seems. By night, the actress captivates London theatergoers with her chameleon-like ability to slip inside her characters. By day, she uses her mastery of disguise to work undercover for Chegarre & Associates, an elite agency known for its discreet handling of indelicate scandals. But when Elise is tasked with locating the missing Duke of Ashland, she finds herself center stage in a real-life drama.

Noah Ellery left the glamour of the London aristocracy to pursue a simpler life in the country. He's managed to avoid any complications or entanglements—that is, until he lays eyes on Elise and realizes there's more to this beautiful woman than meets the eye. But when Elise reveals her real identity—and her true feelings for him—the runaway duke must confront the past he left behind . . . to keep the woman he loves forever.

Elise DeVries is not only an actress, but an amazing tracker as well. She even worked for the British army and proved to be the best, which is why she now works for Chegarre & Associates, an agency that handles all kinds of scandals and makes them disappear.

Noah Ellery, a runaway duke, wants nothing to do with his title. So when the mysterious Elise shows up and tells him he must return to London to claim his rightful place, he can't help but think that it might not be such a bad idea after all, especially if he can help his beloved sister and, also, keep Elise by his side.

I really liked both main characters. Elise is very fun and original, she can defend herself and is incredibly good at her job. And Noah is a very nice guy, he loves having a quite life and helping everyone around him, he even has a cute little dog with three legs called Square (how adorable is that!).

The romance between Noah and Elise is quite cute, with a lot of banter and stubbornness from both sides. They're also attracted to each other since the first time they meet, and can't stop thinking about the other one after that.

Something I really loved was that both of them had very difficult pasts, and they're not proud to remember some of the things they've done, which is why they don't value themselves. But, once they talk about this, they encourage each other and start accepting themselves more.

I'm really glad we get to see them together for a while and don't have to wait till the end for that to happen! I also liked seeing Noah adjusting to his new life as a duke... Oh and his cousin Francis is an awful human being, ugh! I just had to let that out.

A very sweet novel to read if you enjoy historical romance :)

Thank you for reading! ♥

  3. It seems like overall this book is simply incredibly cute and sweet. It sounds like a light and fluffy read without too much too it, but sometimes that's just the kind of read you need to satisfy you after reading an especially big book or heavy read. Brilliant review x
